Nintendo Weekly Review #2

Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii Weekly Review for the week of January 28th, 2008 – February 1st, 2008.

  • The Cobalt Blue/Black Nintendo DS is official. We reported on this earlier this week and classified it as a rumor; but it has been announced it will be arriving in stores February 10th, 2008.
  • Brand new screenshots were released for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Go here to see them.
  • 1080 Snowboarding (originally on Nintendo 64) is now available for Virtual Console download on the Wii system.
  • John Riccitiello, CEO of EA, confirmed that Rock Band will soon be coming to Wii.
  • Owners of the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl game are apparently having more problems than just the earlier reports of firmware update errors. Nintendo is now getting reports of disc read errors and choppy video playbacks. Nintendo says the problem is being caused by dust and tobacco build up inside the Wii system. It is very difficult for Wii owners to fix this dust problem themselves, so Nintendo is offering to clean the system for free.
Those who need this service for their Japanese Wii will have to send their system, warranty card, and copy of Smash Bros. Brawl to a Nintendo service center in Kyoto. Nintendo will be paying for the shipping, so there’s no loss for consumers, except for a one week period without Wii. Go to Nintendo’s Smash Bros. error page.
