Daily News for February 11th, 2008.

  • Apple may be entering the video game industry. Apple has recently registered a patent for a hand-held gaming device. In the description of the patent, there are several mentions of video game use: “”……games and playthings, namely, handheld units for playing electronic games; handheld units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only……namely battery-powered computer games.” If this turns out to be true, it was only a matter of time before they entered the business. They already have computer games for the mac.
  • A multiplayer demo has been released for Frontlines: Fuel of War on Xbox Live. It allows up to 32 players for multiplayer combat.
  • Microsoft Game Studios Corporate Vice President Shane Kim confirmed that the Marvel MMO has been cancelled. In 2006, Microsoft signed Cryptic Studios to create a game based in the Marvel Universe.
  • Now available on the Wii Virtual Console is Harvest Moon for Super NES, and Lords of Thunder for TG-16 CD. Both games are releasing for 800 points.
  • Electronic Arts has announced that a special Game with Fame Valentine’s Day event  is taking place on Xbox Live. Xbox Live Gold members will be able to play with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, stars of MTV’s The Hills. It takes place on February 12th from 9:00pm PST – 12:00am
