In the News #60 – 4/2/2008

Daily News for April 2nd, 2008.

  • The Dualshock 3 for the Playstation 3 has been shipped according to Sony. The controller which features rumble should be in stores soon for a price tag of $54.99.
  • Lucasfilm President Micheline Chau has announced that Darrell Rodriguez has been named president of LucasArts. Rodriquez will take action in mid-April. Rodriquez has worked on several projects like Medal of Honor: Airbourne, Lord of the Rings, Command & Conquer 3, and several others. He is currently the CEO over at Electronic Arts LA.
  • An all new Crysis patch, 1.3, is on its way. No release date has been set, but more information will be available next Wednesday.

In the News #41 – 3/6/2008

Daily News for March 6th, 2008.

  • In celebration of the release of Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2008, a major party is going down in New York City on March 11th. The #1 Guitar Hero player, Chris Chike, aka “iamchris4life,” will attempt to set a new record for highest score in Single Player. More information on this event can be found in the Comment Section of this post.
  • Damnation, a new shooter game brought to you by Blue Omega Entertainment, is coming to the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC in late 2008.
  • New Guitar Hero III tracks are now available on Xbox Live and the Playstation Store. A free track will also be available for download on St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Halo 3 has been updated. Several glitches have been fixed, along with a new event being announced. Double XP is a weekend event where players can earn double the points for winning teams. This event only takes place for the next two weekends.
  • The newest Crysis patch, 1.2, is now available. It has made improvements to multiplayer, mod support, and balance of weapons, AI and vehicles.
  • Valve has recently announced that it would release Half Life 2: Episode I/II, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 as individual boxes at retail outlets. Portal will cost $19.99, while Team Fortress 2, and Episodes I/II will both retail for $29.99.

In the News #11 – 1/24/2008

In the News has a new format. Well sort of. The structure of each In the News is going to be the same. The change is is that it is now going to be a daily happening on Division-Gaming.com. By daily, we mean every week day (not weekends) of the week. So here we go, news for January 24th, 2008.

  • Grand Theft Auto IV finally has a firm release date:  April 29th, 2008.  Read more about it over at GTA-Division.com.
  • THQ’s recent financial report revealed today that upcoming videogame Frontlines: Fuel of War will not be coming to the PlayStation 3 after all.
  • Xbox Live has three new, classic rock downloadable tracks for Guitar Hero 3.
  • According to a post on PS3fanboy.com, the 80 gig PlayStation 3 is being discontinued. A ‘leaked letter’ states that electronic store Best Buy has been informed that the 80GB PS3 is being discontinued. Only the 40GB version will be available.
  • Rez HD has a release date: January 30th, 2008 for $10 on Xbox Live.
  • Inon Zur’s soundtrack for Crysis is coming out January 29th.
  • PS3 Haze delayed. The company expects the title to arrive during the 2008 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009.
  • Rock Band stand-alone instruments. The Rock Band drum set will ship on Feb. 12, for $79.99. The wireless Stratocaster guitar will ship April 1 and will cost $59.99. The PlayStation version of the game will be playable on both the PS2 and the PS3.
  • The Playstation Network has been updates with more downloads. Read more about it on our other post.
  • MANHUNT 2 BANNED AGAIN!!! It has once again been banned in Britain. Last month, the first ban was lifted after an appeal was made by Rockstar Games. The board ruled 4-3 that the game was ‘unlikely’ to cause harm to adults or children and gave it an aduls-only rating. Today, a High Court judge in London ruled that VAC’s decision was flawed by ‘a clear error of law’ when it came to the test for assessing the question of harm, and ordered the board to reconsider their ruling.

In the News – #8

  • LEGO Batman screenshots have finally been released. You can check out all of the screenshots on G4’s LEGO Batman Gallery.
  • Video Game companies were winning it big Monday night at the Tech Emmy’s at CES. Nintendo was able to win for a second year in a row. We will have full details later tonight with “CES Video Game Update.”
  • Connect 2008 is happening in Birmingham, England between March 14 and 15 at Omega Sektor. There are a limited amount of tickets. They will go on sale when the official website launches.
  • Watch Blu-Ray movies with your PSP! Details coming later tonight with “CES Video Game Update.”
  • More gadgets for the PSP are coming this year. Details tonight with “CES Video Game Update.”
  • We try not to post rumors, but this one is making us pretty excited. Apparently, this awesomely awesome James Bond game for the N64, “Goldeneye,” is coming to Xbox Live. Rumors say it will be available for download with updated graphics and online multiplayer. Maybe this will come true.
  • As Blu-Ray continues to dominate the war of HD over HD-DVD (referring to how Paramount and Warner Brothers will no longer support HD-DVD,) Microsoft may be considering supporting the Blu-Ray format for the Xbox 360. Sony makes both Blu-Ray and Playstation 3.
  • The Crysis 1.1 Patch is now available. Click here to see the updates from the patch. (You may need to verify your age.)
  • Sid Meier will be receiving a “Lifetime Achievement Award” at this years Game Developer’s Conference in February. Sid Meier is a famous video game designer who has made such games as Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, Pirates! and many more.
  • The Wii Fit, which was debuted last year at E3 2007, has hit the 1 million sale mark in Japan. It has been on the market for only about a month.

  • Crysis has a new fan site. You can check it out at PlanetCrysis.com. This is the newest addition to the IGN/Gamespy Network.
  • The first public demo for The Orange Box is targeted for release on Xbox 360 on November 22.  This first demo for The Orange Box is dedicated to Half-Life 2: Episode Two.
  • The Halo 3 soundtrack was released on November 20th, and should be available for purchase at most online or retail stores that sell music.
  • IGN recently had a Q&A with Jay Panek, a producer at Rockstar San Diego. The interview was about Midnight Club: Los Angeles. You can find it here.
  • Brothers in Arms is making it’s way to the Wii console. Read an interview with producer Stephen Palmer over at IGN. Make sure you watch the first footage of Brothers in Arms on the Wii which is posted in the middle of the article.
